Fun stuff!

On Thursday, Jeff and Emily wanted to go to H2Oasis waterpark. They had a great time hanging out together!

This week has been a busy one! On Monday, I drove a motor coach from Anchorage to Denali National Park. It is about 250 miles, with lots of beautiful scenery. I made a few stops along the way to pick up and drop off guests. (It is like being Greyhound!!) The weather was spectacular! And the best part was that Mt McKinley was visible. About the last 40 miles to my 1st stop, McKinley is right there in front of me. I come around a corner in the road, and WOW! At this spot, I am only 40 miles from the highest point in North America!

Getting the hang of things!

Well, I am getting the hang of this blog thing! We have had some gorgeous weather here in Eagle River the last few days. Lots of sunshine and mid 70's. My kind of summer! Mark, Jeff and Emily have not been home much this summer. They are very busy hanging out with teir friends.

George has been busy also, but with work. He is still working with Alaska Airlines, commuting to Seattle to teach in the simulator. He is also driving a MotorCoach for Holland America/Princess Alaska 2 days a week. He is enjoying the opportunity to share his great love of the state of Alaska with people that have just come from a cruise, or are headed to the ship. Lots of FUN! Just last week on his way to the ship with guest, along the highway there were 3 brown bears. Great photo opp!

I am also working for Holland America/Princess Alaska. This is my 2nd season. I have a hard time thinking of it as work, it is so much fun hanging out with people that are on vacation! Last week I drove several people from Anchorage to Denali National Park. A very long day of driving, but worth every second. Clear skies, warm temps. Mt. McKinley was out in all it's splendor. And I got paid to look at that mountain!!

Sarah and her family have been very busy. You can check out their blog at http://theboldlookofkohler.blogspot.com/.

Matt and his family have made the move to Michigan. Annette is expecting their 2nd child in October. Tristan is growing. (I have mentioned that feeding kids will do that!)

Mark is getting ready and anticipating his week long Summer Leadership School in July. This is associated with Jr ROTC. He is in the Air Force ROTC at Eagle River High School, and loving every minute of it. It has been great to see the growth and confidence that he has gained through this experience.

Jeff is figuring out where he fits into the the world. He is haveng fun hanging out with his friends. It is almost a chore for him to hang out with his family!

Emily is having a great summer. She is hanging out with all the kids in our neighborhood. And there are alot of them! She is such a social person, and the great thing is she still likes to hang out with her parents, too!

Eagle River and Prince William Sound Area

Here are a few photos of the Eagle River and Prince William Sound area taken in the past few weeks. We have had some super nice weather!

Alex and Courtney Visit us in Alaska!

Alex and Courtney Kohler had an opportunity to visit Grandapa Curtis (and Grandma) in Alaska. They had a great time visiting with everyone including a trip to a farm in the Matanuska Valley near Palmer. At the farm they saw reindeer, a Sitka black tail deer and several moose. Alex had fun playing outside including several trips to the school playground. He also likes to dip nacho cheese doritos in his cereal. Courtney had fun outside also and enjoyed her time with Emily. Great weather and lot's of sunlight!
